  • Condition: Very good condition carved and paint washed frame. I am not an artist, expert or curator. Very good means no damage and looks nice. Could pop with a cleaning. I thought the frame was dirty or dusty. It is painted to look like driftwood tone and carved. Typical 75 year old canvas wrinkles and craquelure.

    Description

Hello,   (If shipping/packing is less, balance is returned via paypal)
"Red Shoes" is what I would title this piece.
This painting is a figure study of a woman done in oil on canvas with a signature from 1942 and frame reference/notation of type of canvas prep from November 1941. Americana.
Gap in time no doubt related to the Pearl Harbor attack and how that must have effected the lives of our population preparing to enter WWII.  Artist was a VET.
I think the painting is quite nice!  The model, the artist and the school attended all were in Philadelphia.
The frame is washed to appear almost driftwood toned and the rear canvas of the painting (no pun intended) is stretched then placed into frame.  The frame appears to be hand carved as the notching is slightly different along face edges and corners.  And, they probably did not have frames for sale like that in stores.  Canvas wrinkles on 75+ year old piece.  No surface cracks in paint evident or noticed.
Painting is being sold as is with no returns.  Unique item without damage.  If the cost of UPS store packing and shipping insured, a refund of the difference will be refunded via paypal.  Each art work shipped has arrived safely with no damage.
Measurements of framed piece are........25" H x 19"  I am quite sure that this will POP if cleaned professionally, and that is opinion without any art experience.
Thank you very much for your consideration.
