In 1973 The Who opened up their Quadrophenia tour at the Cow Palace in San Francisco. After taking the stage late, Keith played for just over an hour before passing out onto his drums twice, clearly too incapacitated to perform. Pete Townshend asks the audience for a capable drummer, and one 19-year old boy from Muscatine, Iowa named Scott Halpin emerges from the crowd, takes the reins, and plays the final 3 songs of the show with The Who.
