-Details:
Vintage Native American Apache hand woven burden basket.  This handmade basket was made using natural plant fibers woven into a cone shape in natural and dark reddish-brown tones.
-Large traditional Apache burden baskets were used for food gathering with the ringing tin bells supposedly used to scare off snakes and locate others.  I was also told that you are supposed to leave your burdens in a burden basket at the door (nice idea)!
-Made as a hanging basket with a soft tan swede leather holder and 18 leather hanging strips that have shiny metal dangles clamped onto the ends. There is also another longer leather hanging strap. This unique basket is in great vintage condition with no breakage.
-When the basket moves, the metal pieces strike together and create an enjoyable light tinkling sound; like windchimes.  Please look at the photos and read all details below.
-This was a gift to me when I worked on an Arizona Apache Reservation in the 1990s.  I had one hanging on an office doorknob to warn me of someone entering; and others hanging on walls at home.
-Great gift for you or someone else!  Perfect zero waste southwestern home décor to highlight any room at home or at the office.
-Size:  The cone shaped basket is approximately 3 inches in diameter at the top tapering to about 1.5 inch on the bottom x 3 inch cone height.  The total hanging height is 14” from the top of the leather strap to the bottom of the 18 metal dangles.
