VINTAGE KITTY CUCUMBER “PRISCILLA IN NIGHTGOWN” BED N’ BATH PORCELAIN THIMBLE.  The Kitty Cucumber Collection evolved from a favorite cat that artist Mary Lillemoe had as a child- a cat born, of all places, in a cucumber patch.  Many years later, upon first seeing Mary's whimsical sketches of her now famous childhood pet, Mary's 5-year-old daughter Annie proudly announced, "That's Kitty Cucumber!"  And with that out- of- the mouths-of babes exclamation, a collection was born.  Schmid was an international leader in fine gifts and collectibles, and transformed Kitty and her friends into finely handcrafted, hand painted collectibles.  Schmid’s exceptional collection of Kitty Cucumber thimbles is loved by all.  Kitty and her friends are beautifully depicted in these hand painted porcelain thimbles.  This thimble for auction is “Priscilla in Nightgown” from the “Bed N’ Bath” collection.  Priscilla is quite “prissy”, even for a cat!  Priscilla turned out to be an apt name for the feline who is forever concerned about her looks.  Nonetheless, she’s always a devoted friend to Kitty Cucumber.  Priscilla is all dressed for her slumber party with her friends - a pink bathrobe with pink flowers.  There is a white trim around her bathrobe.  She is wearing a bandana and even has curlers in her hair!  So much detail that is amazing-even a cascade of roses on her bathrobe.  A cute porcelain thimble suitable for a Kitty Cucumber enthusiast, or any cat-lover.  Kitty Cucumber cats are the best dressed most imaginative cats!  Her facial features are nicely done with gleaming eyes, and white whiskers.  It measures 1-1/2” high.  On the inside of the thimble, it is marked © B. S. with a Schmid sticker.  What a treasure for the Kitty Cucumber, or thimble collector.  Kitty Cucumber porcelain collectibles withstand the test of time, with avid collectors all over the globe.  Although vintage, the thimble is new - never displayed - from a smoke & pet free home.  This thimble could also be used as a mini figurine to display anywhere.  It is Schmid #334025.  No box.  What fun it would be to get the whole collection of Kitty Cucumber thimbles!  We have included the picture of one collection that is displayed in a Kitty Cucumber musical thimble holder for your reference (see attached photo).  But this auction is only for the Priscilla in Nightgown thimble.
